This is one of the most amazing buildings I have ever seen. It is in the middle of nowhere and it was completed in 1597. It has 3 sides, 33 feet each, 3 floors, 3 windows on each side of floor, the verses from the bible have exactly 33 letters on each side... The builder Sir Thomas Tresham was showing his devotion to Catholicism at a time when it could mean death. He needed to use code and as the Trinity was also an important part of the protestant church, he survived. But his son didn't - he was one of the gunpowder plotters. It has to be seen! |
